After the accreditation of Taraba State Polytechnic Suntai, the Rector, Mr. Ayuba Ibrahim Abershi, expressed gratitude to Governor Agbu Kefas for his support to the institution. In an interview with our reporter in Jalingo, he highlighted the governor’s assistance, which facilitated the accreditation of several courses by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Mr. Abershi noted that during the NBTE’s visit in December last year, six programs in the school were accredited, including Higher National Diploma (HND) programs.
He emphasized that the polytechnic, after graduating its first set of students from the National Diploma programs, can now offer HND programs. Mr. Abershi also underscored the institution’s track record of producing outstanding students who excel academically and in service delivery within the state, assuring continued efforts toward progress.

However, he expressed concern over the decision by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examinations Board (JAMB) to suspend the admission of students with Ordinary Diploma (OD) seeking to further their studies in universities. .
While acknowledging that this issue extends beyond students from the institution or Taraba State alone, he appealed for reconsideration by the examination body to facilitate progress.
The Rector also appealed for increased financial support to enable the institution to continue producing technologists, engineers, and other professionals. Nonetheless, he expressed appreciation to the staff of the polytechnic for their unwavering efforts in contributing to the institution’s success.
