Commissioner encourages investors to consider tourism opportunities in Taraba State.

The Taraba State Government has extended invitations to potential investors, encouraging them to discover the opportunities available in the state’s growing tourism industry. At the 16th International Arts and Craft Expo (INAC) in Abuja, Joseph Nagombe, the Commissioner for Heritage and Eco-Tourism, made this appeal under the theme “Marketing Nigerian Crafts to the World.”

Nagombe highlighted Taraba State’s considerable tourism potential, describing it as “Nature’s Gift to the World.” He emphasized the state’s abundant natural resources and pledged the government’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to investment.

MAMBILLA PLATEAU 

Taraba State features numerous historical and tourist sites, including the renowned Mambilla Plateau, known as the highest mountain in Nigeria and West Africa. Other attractions such as the Gashaka Gumti National Park, Barup Waterfall, and Marmara Crocodile Pond were also emphasized as reasons for tourists to visit.

Nagombe mentioned Taraba’s population, its 16 local government areas, and 30 tribes, underscoring the state’s cultural diversity.

He also highlighted the Nwonyo Fishing Festival, an annual event in the Ibi community, which attracts tourists to participate in fishing activities on West Africa’s largest lake, stretching 15 kilometers towards the Benue River.

In terms of geographical wonders, Nagombe spotlighted the Mambilla Plateau, with an average elevation of approximately 1,600 meters above sea level, making it Nigeria’s highest plateau.

Gashaka Gumti National Park

He also mentioned the Gashaka Gumti National Park, Nigeria’s largest national park, covering about 6,402 square kilometers and boasting diverse wildlife and flora.

Nagombe urged both local and international investors to explore Taraba State’s burgeoning economy, highlighting the hospitality and warmth of its people.
