Nigerian Army forces deployed in the North East and North Central areas have successfully stopped a kidnapping, apprehended cattle thieves, and eliminated several terrorists.
On Thursday, responding to a distress call, troops thwarted a kidnapping attempt targeting Mr. Musa Arewa by three armed kidnappers in Lankaviri, Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Taraba State. The kidnappers, after severely torturing their victim, were intercepted by the troops as they tried to hide him in a nearby bush. The suspects were arrested, and three makeshift guns were seized from them, as per an official statement released on Friday by the Nigerian Army.
The Army affirmed its unwavering dedication to upholding peace and security in the region. Collaborating with hunters and other security units, troops conducted patrols to clear areas infiltrated by terrorists. During this mission, they eliminated a notorious terrorist named Gambo Kachallah, responsible for terrorizing several communities in Karim Lamido Local Government, Taraba State, including Garau, Paskere, Tella, Jukun, Farin Ruwa, Mashingi, Jeb Jeb, and Rafin Kada Villages.
In a separate operation, soldiers apprehended a notorious gang specializing in cattle rustling in Plateau State. Acting on reliable intelligence, a sting operation was carried out in Mangu Village, Mangu LG, Plateau State, leading to a firefight with the terrorists, their arrest, and the recovery of illegal weapons. The captured suspects, Peter Sale, Enoch Luka, and Hosaana Philibus, are believed to be key figures in the cattle rustling syndicate. Alongside their arrest, one makeshift rifle, one makeshift pistol, seven rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle, and two mobile phones were retrieved from the suspects.
