Sadiq Tafida, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has won the member-elect position for the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency in Taraba State. Tafida, aged 32, secured a total of 19,681 votes in the rerun and supplementary polls held on Wednesday. He is the son of the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Njiddah Tafida.

The results were announced on Thursday by the returning officer, Professor Olarenwaju Oladipo, who is a lecturer at the University of Wukari. Tafida emerged as the winner in a keenly contested election, beating his closest rival, Innocent Jabayang of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who garnered 16,379 votes. Aminu Malle of the All Progressive Congress (APC) secured 12,662 votes, trailing behind both Tafida and Jabayang.

The rerun election for the House of Representatives position in Taraba State was initially held on February 3, 2024, but it was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
