In a recent development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Dr. Mahmud Sanusi Mohammed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority.
Dr. Sanusi Mahmud Mohammed, who hails from Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, brings an impressive array of qualifications and experience to his new role. He is a distinguished academic and a Fellow of the Institute of Disaster Management and Safety Science. His academic background includes a degree in Geography, a Postgraduate Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, and a Master’s in Disaster and Risk Management and Development Studies, all from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU).
Dr. Mohammed’s involvement in the agricultural sector is also noteworthy, as he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), further underscoring his dedication to sustainable development and the management of natural resources.
As the new MD/CEO of the Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, Dr. Mohammed is expected to bring his expertise in disaster management, geographic information systems, and risk management to improve water resource development and management in the region.
His appointment is seen as part of President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership in key agencies responsible for critical infrastructure and development projects across Nigeria.
