Nigerian Police Officers Alleged to be Extorted by IPPIS Staff for Salary Increase

Junior police officers of the Inspectorate cadre and the rank and file, recently promoted in 2023, are voicing grievances over the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) payment process.

They claim IPPIS officials are demanding a N50,000 bribe before updating their salaries to reflect their new ranks. Previously, workers in tertiary institutions were paid via the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS).

Despite fulfilling all necessary documentation post-promotion, many officers remain unpaid or receive salaries based on their previous ranks. Some allege that only those who bribed IPPIS staff were paid their rightful salaries, prompting pleas for intervention from the public and authorities.
