Nigerian Army successfully prevented attacks on Kweserti village in Taraba State, killing two armed militia members. Acting on intelligence, the troops engaged in a fierce gun battle with the militias, causing them to retreat in disarray. This incident reflects a broader trend of militia attacks in the region, with recent instances including the killing of two individuals in Gbuo village and an ambush on a bus in March.
In addition to thwarting the attack in Kweserti, the Army conducted clearance operations in Rikwenmakpawere and Alaha villages, neutralizing two extremists and recovering weapons and ammunition. Separately, in Lau Local Government Area, two suspected extremists were arrested, leading to the discovery of more weapons.
The Nigerian Army emphasized its commitment to securing the lives and properties of citizens in Taraba State, urging the public to provide information to combat violent extremism effectively.
