Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, emphasized the importance of distinguishing between politics and governance for the state’s development during the recent PDP State caucus meeting. The meeting took place in the Exco Chamber at the Government House in Jalingo.
Governor Kefas, who chaired the meeting, stated that since taking office, he has focused on separating political activities from governance to foster Taraba’s progress. The meeting’s agenda included the upcoming ward, local government, and state congresses, as well as the election of ad-hoc delegates. Attendance was strictly by invitation.
In his opening remarks, Governor Kefas thanked the party’s stakeholders for their support during his first year in office. He underscored that Taraba has long been a PDP stronghold and reiterated his commitment to maintaining this status through good governance.
The Governor highlighted that his administration has worked hard to ensure a clear demarcation between political activities and governance, aiming for rapid state development and bolstering public confidence in the party.
State PDP Chairman Elder Nuhu Abe praised Governor Kefas for his intervention in resolving the party’s previous leadership crisis and for ensuring the welfare of party members. Abe noted an unprecedented influx of new members from the opposition, attributed to recent successful membership registration drives.
He assured the Governor of the party’s unwavering support, citing the state’s recognition as one of the fastest-growing in Nigeria due to the party’s commitment.
The meeting, attended by key party figures including Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, Senators Haruna Manu and Shaibu Lau, Ambassador Idris Waziri, Anthony Jellason, PDP House of Representatives members, and other selected participants, proceeded behind closed doors after the initial discussions.
