Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Friday, pledged to complete all key infrastructural projects inherited by his administration.

Kefas made the pledge during the inspection of the ongoing Mararraba – Baissa – Abong Road project awarded by the immediate governor of the state, Darius Ishaku.

The governor, who acknowledged the delay in releasing more funds to the contractors handling the construction of the road, noted that there was a need to justify the resources already committed to the project before more funds would be allocated to the companies.

“I have been receiving pressure from the contractors to pay them but we need to see the level of work done and that is why we are here today.

“I want to reassure the people of the state that this administration is dedicated to completing projects initiated by previous administrations, especially those that hold significant interest to the people,” he said.

While expressing satisfaction for the quality of work so far done, the governor said the project was of great importance to the state’s development and reaffirmed his commitment to peace and stability in the area.

Some of the community stakeholders who spoke during the inspection expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit, and commended his effort to personally assess the project’s status despite his busy schedule.

Our correspondent reports that the 82 kilometres Mararraba – Baissa – Abong road connecting Baissa, in Kurmi Local Government Area to the rest of the state and the Republic of Cameroon when completed will stimulate socioeconomic activities in the area.
