Governor Agbu Kefas Constitutes Committee for Local Government Autonomy Implementation

In a significant move towards enhancing local governance, the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has approved the formation of the Local Government Autonomy Advisory Committee. This committee is tasked with advising the government on the comprehensive implementation of local government autonomy in accordance with the recent Supreme Court ruling.

The committee comprises a diverse group of members representing various sectors of the state’s governance structure:

1. Rt Hon. Abel Peter Diah – Member Representing Mbamnga State Constituency and Chairman TRHA Committee on Local Government and Traditional Affairs (Chairman).
2. Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps – Secretary to the Government of Taraba State (Member).
3. Barr. Yakubu Maikasuwa SAN- Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice (Member).
4. Alh. Hassan Aminu- ALGON Chairman (Member).
5. Lilian Jonathan – Director Inspectorate BLGT,&CA (Member).
6. Mr. Bala Hussein- Member.
7. Mr. Ezekiel Polycarp – Member/Secretary.

The inauguration of the committee is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2024, at 10 am in the EXCO Chambers, Government House, Jalingo. This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to reinforcing local governance and ensuring compliance with judicial directives.
