The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that electricity supply in the North-East will be fully restored by May 27. This comes after four transmission towers along the Jos-Gombe axis were vandalized on April 23, disrupting power supply to several states in the region including Gombe, Damaturu, Maiduguri, Yola, Bauchi, and Jalingo.

TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, mentioned that TCN contractors are actively working on erecting new transmission towers to facilitate the restoration of power supply. Reconstruction efforts are progressing, with one tower nearing 80% completion, another at 60%, a third at 30%, and dismantling work completed on the fourth tower.

TCN aims to complete and energize the Jos-Gombe transmission line by May 20, 2024, extending power up to Damaturu and further to Maiduguri by May 27, 2024. The company acknowledges the challenges posed by the current limited power supply and assures customers of their commitment to expedite the restoration process.
