Gombe, Yola, and Jalingo residents are facing a power outage due to vandals damaging four towers along the Jos-Gombe transmission line, as confirmed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, stated on Monday that the vandalism occurred around 3:32 pm.
This incident has disrupted the bulk power supply to Gombe, Yola, and Jalingo Substations, impacting areas served by Yola and Jos Electricity Distribution Companies. TCN is working to restore power by backfeeding Gombe through a 132kV transmission line from Bauchi, followed by efforts to reconstruct the vandalized towers. This event mirrors a similar situation in February when Abuja experienced a blackout due to TCN tower vandalism.
