The event included a two-day meeting of the National Project Steering Committee of the GPE Refugee Education Project, which took place at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Save the Children International (SCI), has secured funding from the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) to support refugee response and host communities in the states of Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Cross River, and Taraba. This initiative aims to address the educational needs of refugees and improve educational outcomes in these regions.
Dr. Augustina Godwin has been nominated as a member of the National Steering Committee (NSC) for the Refugee Education Project. Her role involves overseeing the effective implementation of the project, with Save the Children International acting as the grant agent. The project is set to run for 18 months and is expected to enhance the free education program policy championed by His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State.
The inauguration event was a colorful celebration, attended by other committee members from the selected beneficiary states, marking a significant step towards improving educational opportunities for refugees and host communities in Nigeria.
