Hon. Umar Yusuf Allurangari, the Executive Chairman of Gashaka Local Government Council, received notable visitors, including the Assistant Conservator General Mohammed A. Kabir, representing the National Park Service, and Nachamada Geoffrey, the Country Manager of African Nature Investment.
Their visit aimed to express condolences to the Masabere community in the Mai-idanu ward of Gashaka Local Government Area, Taraba State, following a tragic incident that claimed the lives of three community members.
In the meeting, Quicmon Remon led prayers for the deceased, seeking peace for their souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear their loss. This visit underscores the community’s grief and the support from both local and national entities in the wake of such tragedies.
The incident in Gashaka is part of a broader pattern of violence in Taraba State. Other recent clashes in the region, such as those in Bali and Karim-Lamido local government areas, have resulted in significant casualties and have raised alarms about ongoing insecurity.
