LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF TARABA STATE, DR. AGBU KEFAS

Dear Governor Agbu Kefas,

We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As concerned citizens of the Karim II Constituency, we write to seek your attention and consideration on a matter of significant importance to our community.

First, we congratulate you on the significant strides you have made within one year to transform Taraba State and address the gaps left by previous administrations. We pray for divine wisdom to guide you as you lead our state to greater heights.

We wish to bring to your notice that the youth of Karim II have long been marginalized in political and developmental appointments within our state. Despite being a vibrant and capable segment of the population, the youth have had limited opportunities to contribute to the growth and prosperity of our constituency and the state at large. Their potential remains largely untapped due to the lack of representation and opportunities.

Firstly, we observe the exclusion of our youth in cabinet appointments (commissioner) from which youths in other Local Government Areas have greatly benefited. Not a single youth from our constituency has been deemed worthy of a cabinet seat. Additionally, in the matter of Special Assistants appointments, we have been entirely overlooked. This leaves us feeling used and discarded.

Your Excellency, you still have our support for the forthcoming election, but we request that you include our youths in the governance process to allow us to experience the benefits of close contact democracy.

We want to remind you that the youth of Karim II, due to party affiliation and orientation, supported you during the last election, foregoing support for other contestants.

The youth of Karim II Constituency possess the skills, education, and enthusiasm necessary to drive positive change and innovation. By involving them in key appointments and decision-making processes, you can ensure fresh perspectives and contemporary solutions are brought to the table. This will not only empower the youth but also foster a sense of inclusion and commitment to the state’s development.

We kindly urge you to consider the following points:

  1. Representation: Appoint qualified youth from Karim II to positions where they can influence policies and initiatives that directly affect our community.
  2. Development Opportunities: Create and promote programs that specifically aim to develop the skills and leadership qualities of the youth in Karim II.
  3. Inclusivity: Ensure that all demographic groups, particularly the marginalized youth, have a voice in the governance and development of the state.

Your Excellency, we believe that by taking these steps, you will address the immediate needs of our youth and lay a strong foundation for the future leadership of our state. We are confident that under your visionary leadership, Karim II Constituency can become a model of youth inclusion and empowerment.

We also want to express our gratitude for appointing some of our people into your cabinet. We do not wish to appear ungrateful.

We sincerely hope you will consider our plea, sir.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We remain hopeful and look forward to positive changes that will uplift our youth and, consequently, our entire community.
