The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, stationed in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, reported a clash with bandits resulting in the recovery of rifles after a fierce battle. Lieutenant Colonel Olubodunde Oni, the brigade’s spokesperson, provided details in a statement released in Jalingo, the state capital.
According to Oni:
- The clash ensued after the troops received information about gunshots near a disputed land along Tsukundi Road. Upon reaching the scene, the troops found two individuals dead, presumably shot by unknown assailants. Additionally, one person sustained a gunshot wound and received immediate medical attention.

- The troops, displaying bravery and professionalism, conducted a thorough search of the surrounding bushes. They encountered armed groups and effectively used their superior firepower to compel the militias to retreat, abandoning their positions and fleeing the scene.
- During the operation, the troops recovered a cache of weapons, including 2 AK 47 Rifles with 36 Rounds of 7.62 MM Special ammunition, 10 empty cases of 7.62 MM, 1 Double Barrel Rifle, and 1 Single Barrel Rifle with 14 live cartridges.
