The Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas has appreciated the leadership of the state PDP for working tirelessly to ensure hitch-free congresses in coming days.
The Governor made the remarks while speaking at the PDP State Executive Committee meeting.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of the office of the Wife of the Governor, opposite the Muslim council, Jalingo the state capital.
Members of the State Executive Committee of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP converged to chat a course for hitch-free congresses from the ward, local government and state levels.
In his remarks, Governor Agbu Kefas thanked all SEC members for availing at the meeting, saying that it is a testament that the party is ready for congresses in days ahead.
The meeting received reports of the committee set up to review the zoning arrangement of positions in all the senatorial zones of the state.
The meeting then went into closed-door and after that, a founding member of the PDP in the State, Ambassador Idris Waziri CON, former Minister of Commerce briefed the Press on the outcome of the meeting.
According to him, it is a constitutional requirement for the State Executive Committee members of the party to meet before going to congresses to discuss the modalities and how the congresses will be conducted.
He disclosed that the party has agreed to zone certain positions to all three senatorial zones in the interest of equity, fairness and justice to make sure that every zone is properly represented in all the positions at the state level.
He mentioned that the Chairmanship position has been zoned to the central zone, the Deputy chairman to the north, and the Secretary of the party to the Southern zone.
He added that all the positions have been zoned equitably.
Ambassador Idris Waziri CON expressed the readiness of the party for the forthcoming congresses giving assurance of internal democracy in all processes.
Also, Mrs Tina Musa, Former National Women leader of the PDP said they are satisfied with all arrangements on the ground.
She expressed hope that the state will continue to be PDP because of the internal democracy taking place in all processes.
The meeting was attended by party stalwarts from the state.
